Annual Well-Woman Exam

Your annual visit is the cornerstone of preventive women's health. Dr. Aldabbagh conducts a thorough review of your health history, physical examination, pelvic exam, breast exam, and orders appropriate laboratory tests. This is also the ideal time to discuss any concerns about your menstrual cycle, sexual health, contraception, or gynecologic symptoms.

Pap Smear & Cervical Cancer Screening

Cervical cancer screening guidelines recommend Pap smears beginning at age 21, continuing every 3 years through age 65 (or every 5 years with HPV co-testing after age 30). Dr. Aldabbagh follows current ACOG guidelines and will explain your results clearly. Abnormal results are managed with colposcopy when indicated.

STI Screening & Sexual Health

Routine STI screening for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, and hepatitis B/C is offered as part of annual care or any time you have concerns. Dr. Aldabbagh provides non-judgmental, confidential sexual health counseling and treatment.

Colposcopy & Cervical Procedures

When Pap smear or HPV test results are abnormal, colposcopy allows close examination of the cervix to identify areas of concern. LEEP (loop electrosurgical excision procedure) and cervical biopsies are performed in-office when needed to treat or diagnose abnormal cervical cells.

Gynecologic Ultrasound

Transvaginal and abdominal pelvic ultrasound allows visualization of the uterus, ovaries, and pelvis to evaluate fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, pelvic pain, or abnormal uterine bleeding. Results are reviewed with you at the same visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

ACOG recommends a first gynecologic visit between ages 13 and 15, primarily for education and counseling. Pelvic exams and Pap smears typically begin at age 21, or earlier if there are specific concerns.

Current guidelines recommend: ages 21–29 — Pap smear every 3 years. Ages 30–65 — Pap smear plus HPV test every 5 years (or Pap alone every 3 years). Dr. Aldabbagh will advise based on your individual history.

A pelvic exam involves visual inspection of the external genitalia, speculum examination of the vagina and cervix (during which a Pap smear is collected), and a bimanual examination to assess the uterus and ovaries. The exam takes a few minutes and is typically not painful.

Most insurance plans allow direct access to an OB-GYN without a referral. Some HMO plans require a primary care referral. Call (786) 360-4314 and we will help verify your specific requirements.

Yes — annual preventive well-woman exams are covered at 100% by most insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act, with no copay. Diagnostic services ordered during the visit may be subject to your regular cost-sharing.

For the most accurate Pap smear results, avoid intercourse, douching, and vaginal products (creams, suppositories) for 24–48 hours before your appointment. You can schedule your visit during your period, but lighter flow days are easier.

Yes. Dr. Aldabbagh diagnoses and treats vaginal infections including bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, and trichomoniasis. If you have symptoms of abnormal discharge, odor, or itching, call to schedule an appointment.

Yes. Colposcopy, cervical biopsies, and LEEP procedures are performed in-office at both Miami locations, avoiding the need for hospital-based procedures in most cases.

Most women can stop Pap smears at age 65 if they have had three consecutive normal Pap smears or two normal Pap plus HPV co-tests in the past 10 years, with no history of CIN2+ or cervical cancer. Dr. Aldabbagh will make a personalized recommendation based on your history.
