Abnormal Pap Smear

A Pap Smear is typically part of an annual gynecology checkup. During the exam, your doctor first inserts a speculum to hold the vagina open and uses a swab to collect cells. These cells are collected in and around the cervical region, where the uterus opens into the vaginal canal. The cells that are collected are sent to a laboratory where they are examined for abnormal cells that might signal cancerous growth.

Most women can agree that this procedure may be uncomfortable and slightly awkward, but Dr. Sidiq’s patients often share that this is no longer the case. Dr. Sidiq has worked with hundreds of women and can comfortably and easily lead them throughout the process, keeping his patients calm and engaged. It is easy and painless with little to no discomfort.

                          Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding

Normal vaginal bleeding is the periodic blood flow from the uterus, most commonly known as menstruation. The bleeding is considered abnormal if it occurs:

(1) When you are not expecting your menstrual period.

(2) When your menstrual flow is lighter or heavier than what is normal for you.

Abnormal vaginal bleeding in women who are ovulating regularly most commonly involves excessive, frequent, irregular, or decreased bleeding. Treatment for abnormal vaginal bleeding depends on the underlying cause. After the cause is determined through minimal testing, the doctor decides if treatment is necessary.

One patient shared that upon beginning a more intense exercise regime, she began experiencing abnormal bleeding. She explained that Dr. Sidiq assured her that he would take care of her, keeping her informed and involved as they tackled the issue together. Dr. Sidiq is committed to creating an experience that empowers his patients by sharing his knowledge, expertise, and care.

Heavy Periods and Fibroids

A fibroid is a noncancerous growth in the female reproductive system that can develop during a woman’s menstrual years. It’s completely treatable with medication, surgical removal, and natural remedies. Symptoms include heavy or prolonged periods and pelvic pain.

Heavy Periods may be caused by many factors. This includes a hormonal imbalance, fibroids, birth control side effects or diseases and cancers. In most cases, it should not cause alarm and can be treated with simple exercises and stretches or medicinally.

Dr. Sidiq specializes in eliminating the discomfort occurring daily caused by fibroids in pregnant and nonpregnant women. It is unclear why fibroids develop, but several factors influence their formation, such as hormones and genetics. About 70 to 80 percent of women experience fibroids by the age of 50.

Birth Control

Birth control has been around for hundreds of thousands of years. Nowadays, there are a myriad of birth control methods that are both safe and effective. Dr. Sidiq’s goal is to find the method that best fit each patient’s individual needs. A patient that does not feel comfortable with a physical birth control, can be given information on how to reduce chances of pregnancy with simple calendar and temperature methods. Be sure to ask your doctor all questions you may have, whether you’re familiar with birth control or not.

In his many years of practice, Dr. Sidiq has discovered that not all women will have the same reaction to different birth control. The most commonly known birth control, “the pill”, reacted very badly with one of Dr. Sidiq’s patients. Even after he lowered the dosage of the medication, she was still experiencing very strong side effects. Instead of switching the pill type, Dr. Sidiq ended his patients discomfort, by giving her detailed information on Natural forms of birth control. She now practices what is known as the Calendar Rhythm Method in which she tracts her fertility and ovulation.

Menopause typically occurs after a woman has her last menstrual period, which marks the end of her reproductive era. Menopause can occur in women between the ages of 40 and 50 and usually brings an onset of physical symptoms. Some symptoms include lack of sleep, low energy, hot flashes, anxiety, and feelings of loss.

There are many effective treatments available and we encourage our patients to ask us about the different remedies we offer to alleviate the symptoms. We offer patients experiencing menopause the best in treatment to enjoy a continued quality of life.

A patient explained that the onset of menopause was difficult for her. She was experiencing “low stamina and energy, anxiety, headiness, unsteadiness, also I am hot flushed with blood pressure (BP) spikes. I wake early, occasionally hot and sweaty.” Dr. Sidiq customized a treatment that catered to her lifestyle, hormones, and genetics. By accounting her complete wellness, he was able to ease this change for his patient. She later explained that “I felt more at ease after Dr. Sidiq’s care. It was a relief, and I felt a noticeable change.”

Risk-Reducing Salpingectomy

Salpingectomy is the surgical removal of a segment of one or both fallopian tubes that is done to remove a blockage in the fallopian tubes or creating a new opening. It is often used when a patient’s tubes have been damaged by disease, a past surgery, or adhesions. While it sounds like an extreme procedure, it is an effective treatment for fertility problems or tubal disease, including cancer or infection.

Although Dr. Sidiq attempts to keep the most holistic approaches to his practice, removing one or both fallopian tubes can often lead to better fertility outcomes than repairing the tubes. Before deciding on surgery, Dr. Sidiq uniquely identifies the best approach for each patient depending individual needs.

One of Dr. Sidiq’s past patients, underwent the surgery in a couple of hours, with no more than three small incisions made. While the procedure took place during the holidays, her quick 2-week recovery allowed her to transition back into her regular routine quickly and painlessly – just in time to enjoy the festivities with her family.

Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become weaker and more brittle. It is very common, with 3 million new cases every year. While it cannot be cured, it can be treated. Typically, the body absorbs and replaces bone tissue through bone making cells. With osteoporosis, new bone tissue is not being produced fast enough in comparison to the amount of bone tissue being broken down.

Dr. Sidiq’s focus in regards to osteoporosis is conducting Bone Density tests to women at age 50 or within the first two to three years after becoming menopausal. We encourage our patients to ask us about treatment, which is a holistic approach that caters to your lifestyle and needs.

Dr. Sidiq does perform regular ultrasounds throughout the pregnancy of his patients. If a patient needed or desired 3D or 4D Ultrasound footage, he can provide them with a referral to a trusted facility that may provide this examination for them.
